Dr Margaret Bone graduated from Manchester University Medical School in 1979. She trained in Anaesthetics and Pain Medicine at The Royal London, St Bartholomew's and Great Ormond Street Hospital, gaining her Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 1985 and the Fellowship in Pain Medicine in 2007. She was appointed Consultant Anaesthetist specialising in Pain Medicine at Cheltenham and Gloucester in 1990 and moved to Leicester in 1996 as Consultant in Pain Medicine at the University Hospitals of Leicester.
In addition to her clinical work, she is Honorary Lecturer at Leicester University, co-running and examining on the MSc in Pain Management; is Educational Supervisor for Pain Fellows and lectures nationally. She advises on National Working Party Committees, has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented papers to learned societies in the UK, Europe and USA.
Dr Bone offers advice and treatment on:
spinal pain, including degenerative disorders, trauma and sciatica
chest, abdominal and pelvic pain
headache and nerve pain, including neuralgias
muscle and myofascial pain
post-injury pain from accidents and injury,whiplash and complex regional pain syndrome
she also undertakes medico-legal work related to chronic pain management.
When not working, she enjoys looking after her family, Labradors and hens and, if time permits, travel and skiing.
